This modern architectural home is thoughtfully composed as three distinct pods, arranged to respond to site, views, and lifestyle.
The first pod houses the garage, while the second contains the main living spaces, kitchen, dining, and lounge, along with two bedrooms. The third pod is dedicated to the master suite, complete with ensuite and walk-in wardrobe, creating a private retreat separate from the main living areas.
By breaking the home into three pods, the design maximises views from every door and window, while also forming two sheltered exterior living spaces that seamlessly extend the interior outdoors.
The exterior palette is defined by a strong contrast of textures and materials. Recycled hardwood cladding, finished with a clear coat, brings warmth and natural character, while band-sawn oversized board-and-batten cladding introduces depth and shadow through its stepped profile. A 40-degree pitched roof, clad in a deeper-profile roofing, reinforces the home’s bold architectural form.
Inside, the main kitchen and living area is anchored by a dramatic vaulted ceiling, with exposed oversized trusses and line-washed plywood ceilings that continue through to the bedrooms, creating a cohesive interior language. The bedrooms are lined with plasterboard, allowing the warmth and texture of the ceilings to remain the dominant architectural feature.
Polished concrete floors with underfloor heating provide thermal mass and comfort, complemented by a wood fire that adds warmth and atmosphere.
Sustainability and performance were integral to the design approach. The home utilises recycled timber throughout, paired with heavily insulated walls, thermally broken high-performance joinery, and high-performance glazing to ensure excellent energy efficiency and year-round comfort. The house operates with a high level of self-sufficiency, incorporating an on-site rainwater catchment and storage system, its own septic system, and a renewable energy setup consisting of 20 solar panels with battery storage.
The home includes three generously sized bedrooms and two bathrooms. The bathrooms are finished with panelled wall linings, introducing subtle texture and contrast within the otherwise restrained interior palette.
